On the 21st of January 2018 is the 151st Birth Anniversary of HH Shri Babaji Bhagwan, (1867-1940) my grandfather, who I consider to be one of the holiest of the holy personalities to set foot upon this planet earth,
He came into this world silently and he left with the same degree of silence. He lived in a small rented house and he left the world in that house, without leaving behind a legacy of a chain of ashrams, or millions of followers, without caring for name, fame or followers or weath.
And yet he gave peace and beatitude to countless folk relieving them of their ills and sorrows through his message of love.
His name was Devi Das Mehta, and as the Divine Light in him manifested itself, people began to experience God in him, and he came to be called HH Shri Babaji Bhagwan.
He was the son of a multi-millionaire father who had placed untold wealth at his disposal. But Shri Babaji Bhagwan at a very young age gave away all his wealth, properties and lands to the poor and rejoiced in this renunciation. For him this was a means to attaining his spiritual goal in life.
His life was a great lesson to many so-called holy men who walked on the path of God only to amass wealth, luxury and followers, and who glorifed their own egos deluding themselves into believing they were God.
Shri Babaji would say: "A man does not become great by amassing wealth, name fame followers or buildings. He becomes great by RENOUNCING these materialistic things!"
While miracles danced attendance upon him he attached no importance to them. He did not collect a horde of followers who would surround him all the time. He was carrying his Divine Mission alone.
He had not a trace of ego or desire in him and his love encompassed the whole of humanity, He lived only for the sake of others.
To him life was an order of God, and death another order.
When he was leaving the world, the doctor said to him:
"Holy Sire! You are very ill, you are dying!"
And he said: "If I were ill I would have the desire to get well.
If I were dying I would have the desire to live!"
A few of his words to the world were:
"I am convinced there is no condition higher than that silence which comes of the abandonment of all latent desires!"
"I am content with what God has given me as my share,
And I commit to my Creator my every care,
To do good in the past has been indeed his Will,
He will go good as well in what is to come still"
"He who has not given up the ways of vice,
He whose mind is not at rest,
He who cannot control himself
Can never realise God,
Though full of learning of the world."
His Greatest Legacy to the world was the purest and most divinely beautiful being, his son, who he left behind on earth, filled with the Glory of God from Birth, HH Shri Bhola Nathji.
Such souls do not disappear into the vastness of the Universe, they live on as The Guardians of the Universe and of humanity, helping them in so many invisible ways, and they are always close whenever you need them.
Let us pray to HH Shri Babaji and HH Shri Nathji to alleviate the ills and sorrows of the world and to save the world from any impending nuclear disaster.
