PARABLES OF HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI
============================================
THE HOLY MAN AND THE KING
============================================
HH Shri Bhola Nathji, my father, a Great Spiritual Luminary, was renowned for the absolutely simple manner in which he brought home spiritual truths to the people, albeit with irrefutable logic, rare in spirituality. It was small wonder that the young and the old, men, women and children,intellectuals of the highest order and illiterate folk flocked to listen to his words, everyone nodding his head in agreement. And people found their hearts flooded with a hitherto inexperienced peace.

A Holy Man dressed in tatters passed by the palace of a king. He
stopped and saw the king watching him from a window on the first floor.
He said to the king: "Is there a place in your tavern for me for the night!"
The king was angry: "This is not a tavern. This is my palace and you are in my kingdom. Can't you see that?"
The holy man said: "Your Majesty all I see before me is a Tavern!"
The king, now enraged, came out of the palace and said to the holy man: "Either explain yourself or go to jail for insulting me!"
The Holy Man said:
"Who is on the throne today?"
"I , the king," said the king.
"Who was on the throne before you?"
"My Father, my grandfather and my forefathers!"
"Will you stay on this throne forever?"
"No, I too must go one day!"
"Who will sit on your throne after you?"
"My son and grandsons and great grandsons and so on.."
"O KING!' SAID THE HOLY MAN, "WHO SAYS THIS IS NOT A TAVERN WHERE SO MANY HAVE COME AND GONE AND SO MANY MUST COME AND GO!"
Indeed this is the reality of life which we forget again and again, that we have not come to stay in this world but only to go away, and those who have come before us, plus those who will come after us, must all come and go away. The history of the world speaks of the bilions who have come into this world and gone-- therefore it is not very likely that we shall be staying here forever. At best this world is like a temporary sojourn, a Tavern, where people come and go.
