My grandfather Shri Devi Das Mehta (1867-1940) was a millionaire, who gave away
all his wealth to people in need, and took to the spiritual path. Multitudes
would come to him to experience peace and beatitude and an alleviation of their
sorrows and miseries.
However there were times when he became disillusioned with the people of the world, as all great souls are at times, when his message of Love and Message and Contentment went unheeded and the greed for wealth became the prime motivating force of the people around him, so much so that even spiritual men were running after name, fame and followers.

And this is what was found amongst his writings of the time.
"I was a merchant who came into this world to sell his wares. But, Alas! It was my destiny to sell for a fallen price.
"For I had come to sell mirrors in the land of the blind."
But he added:
"Now I must either shatter my mirrors to pieces or else give eyes to the blind."
