Here is the universal
complaint: “We have not beheld the Divine Being.”
Questions: Has He,
Whom thou do seek, separated Himself from thee?
Has thy heart felt
the pangs of separation?
Has thy wisdom
experienced separation?
Has thy heart a
desire to meet Him?
And if the answers be
“Yes” then is thy search as full of anxiety as it would be if thou wert seeking
a lost diamond? Is thy search as intense as it would be if thou wert a father
and had lost thy child?
And if the answers be
“No” , then it is only right that thou search first for the desire to see Him
before searching for Him. Having gained the desire, search then for Him for
Whom the desire exists.
This is the wheel of
a wondrous carriage. Give it but one push and it shall roll on for time
eternal!
