MORE ON BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

I may have sounded cynical about the use of Hair Dyes in my last post. But please let me clarify, I have nothing against them.

And if they can manage to fill an aging geriatric with the joie de vivre -- the joy life,-- then it can be much cheaper than vitamin pills and regular doctor's visits!

It might be the perfect antidote against aging!! Which is why so many aged men and women, mostly grandfathers and grandmother's apply them-- and feel young!! So it might even be a blessing in disguise!! Nature's creation to help man counter age.

I recall a Sikh Hotel Owner with a lush black beard. I learnt from his waiter that one morning the owner had been crossing the road in the middle of traffic, with his breakfast plate in his hand when there was a sound that sounded like DHUMM!

The Owner had been hit by a car and he executed a flying curve in the sky, called a Parabola in mathematiics, and landed back again with a thump.

The vivid manner in which the waiter described the scene to me, emphasizing again and again how he had heard the DHUMM sound at breakfast time, made me rush over to the owner's house where he was recuperating after a long stay in hospital with only minor injuries.

When I went to his bedroom I was shocked to see a man in his 80's sitting up in bed, his white beard and white hair flowing all over! The owner I had known was a man of about 50 with a lush black beard.

"My Goodness, Sardarji!" I said loudly, "what a shock! The accident made your hair turn white! I recall the shock that the Emperor who built the Taj Mahal got when his queen had died. These white hairs must be from the shock of the accident!"

The owner replied:

"It wasnt exactly like that! Actually I have been in hospital for so many days that I could not apply my hair dye! That is why the hairs have come back to their natural white color!"

Moral. Those who apply black hair dyes to maintain a youthful appearance must keep in mind those bleak days of illnesses and accidents when they will no longer be able to apply the hair dye, and when the sudden appearance of white hair will shock them as well as their friends.

Maybe shock them enough for their hairs to turn white.
