Memoirs of HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) Founder of the World Prayer Day for Peace.
A person who desires greatness is proving that he is not great. The person who is truly great is one who does not desire greatness.
One day I was standing on the roof of a house and some people passed by below on the street. They looked up and saw me, whilst I looked down and saw them.
We met again the next day and they said to me,
“It is a proof of your greatness that you stood on a level higher than ours. We, as lesser beings, were on a lower plane.”
I smiled and said to them:
“What you call my greatness is nothing but a reflection of your own. Though it is true that I stood on a level higher than yours, yet mine eyes were cast downwards whilst yours were turned upwards.”
