DUSSEHRA IN INDIA - THE FESTIVAL OF VICTORY OF GOOD OVER EVIL

DUSSEHRA IN INDIA - THE FESTIVAL OF VICTORY OF GOOD OVER EVIL
================================================
From the writings of HH Shri Bhola Nathji a Great Spiritual Luminary.
=================================================
Today is the day when thousands of years ago in India, Lord Rama, God Incarnate, destroyed the evil King, Ravana.
It is a day when grass or cardboard effigies of an over-sized Ravana are burnt all over India in a glorious bonfire, and people rejoice even as the effigy of Ravana in an inferno, falls down, EXEMPLIFYING THE VICTORY OF GOOD OVER EVIL.
Bhagwan Rama was the personification of Love and Righteousness, and all that is noble in Man and God. He was the Avatar of God upon earth, the descent of God upon earth in human form.
Even though Ravana's effigies are being burnt, Ravana, is still alive in the hearts of many who do evil or are evil in thought. Wherever there is hatred, jealousy, lies, falsehood, unkindness, thanklessness, cruelty, wars etc., Ravana is there.
What is his golden Lanka? It is the lure of the material world for more and more wealth, more and more prosperity and enjoyment, for whatever they are worth, even at the cost of hurting others or performing evil acts or deeds.
Knowing fully well that they must all leave the world with empty hands.
But people forget that there is another Lanka also.
The Lanka of Vibheeshan the brother of Ravana, who realised the worthlessness of a golden Lanka without Lord Rama.
He left the golden Lanka and turned to Lord Rama as a staunch devotee, during the days when Lord Rama was living in a forest. Here was a renunciation of wealth and prosperity when it was tainted with evil.
To outward appearances he had left a golden Lanka and taken to living in the forests with Lord Rama. Would anyone have the courage to make such a renunciation for God?
The lure of the material world is much too strong for most.
But, in return, Lord Rama gave the golden Lanka to Vibheeshan after defeating Ravana. The Golden Lanka then became blessed because a devotee of Lord Rama was now its king.
When one sacrifices material pursuits that lead to evil and embraces God, then God gives him more than he could ever have imagined in his lifetime -- he gives him the golden Lanka of Vibheeshan, each and every gold brick of which was marked with faith in Lord Rama.
On this Day Of Dussehra let us all pray to the Lord to turn this world into a world of Prosperity filled with Faith in God, a world of Love, Faith and Service filled with everlasting peace.
So that when people leave this world they don't leave with empty hands, but rather with hands filled with the fruits of their Love, Faith and Service of God.
