PEACE TO THE DEPARTED SOUL

PEACE TO THE DEPARTED SOUL
===========================
The morning news today was filled with pictures of Sridevi, one of the greatest actresses of the Indian Cinema. She had died suddenly of cardiac arrest while attending the wedding of a relative in Dubai.
As fans we can only look on helplessly and wish that this had not happened and that she could be back amongst us.
But in the end all we can say is "Peace to the Departed Soul" and condolences to her family, relatives and friends. She left the world after giving much joy and happiness to the world and shall certainly be in a beautiful place now.
And once again this takes us back to the question: WHAT IS LIFE?
Life is like a journey in a train. When we get inside the train we find some people already in our compartment, these are our parents and relatives. As the train proceeds onward more people get inside the compartment-- the new friends and relatives we make in life. Then as the journey proceeds further we find that some get off the train in our presence and we get off in the presence of others.
One of the greatest wonders of the world is that people die every day before us and yet no one is conscious of his own approaching death.
The fact that even one person has left the world brings to our minds the proof that we too must leave the world one day. History speaks of the billions who have come in this world and have gone away. So the chances that we are going to live forever are zero.
But what is the goal of life? What is the destination where we are going to get off?
Supposing everyone in the world were told the date on which he is going to leave the world. What would you be doing as the date approaches closer and closer? Ask yourselves this question again and again. Because one day that date is certainly going to come to catch us unawares.
This is a question each person must answer for himself.
Is this material world the only world or is there another world to come? Is death a transition from one material existence to another material existence? Or is it a transition from a material existence to a spiritual existence?
O Man! Having come into the world, we must find some time to ponder over these facts. If the train is about to reach its destination then at least we must know what that destination is.
