There are some people who say that God desires worship. But they understand not that, in this way, by conferring His own Presence he wishes to give perfect joy.
He does not want us to pray to him. It is our own need and our
weak relationship with him that forces us to pray. We need to pray only to make our Faith strong in Him to establish a relationship with Him, which may become permanent.
Look at a mother and a child. There is a relationship between the
two. There are times when the child is thirsty but cannot cry out
for water as he does not know what water is.
Yet his mother gives him water from time to time to quench his
thirst. All his needs are looked after by the mother because he is
her child. Her relationship with him forces her to look after him
out of her love for him.
In a like manner when you have established a relationship with
God, then you become His responsibility. He knows what you need and what you don't. He gives you what you want even without your asking. And He does not give you what He considers harmful for you even though you may pray for it.
He sustains your life all the time without making His presence
felt, just like the air sustains your life every breath without
making its presence felt.
There are times when calamities may hit you suddenly without your having any time to pray. But He saves you even then, because He knows you don't have the time to pray.
His relationship with you forces Him to act.
He saves you a countless number of times even without your being aware of it. He saves you when you are suddenly hit by a car on the road, and he saves you silently when he does not allow so many accidents to come to you.
When you have established a relationship with Him through your
righteousness, humility, prayers, devotion and your Faith, then He takes over your life completely, over-ruling your petty desires to give you things that are permanent and even eternal.
He cares for your body and its needs, but He does not forget your soul and its needs. At times he must over-rule your worldly desires to give you things in the next world for your soul, which are beyond your imagination.
He knows this world is a stepping stone for the next world.
There is the verse of HH Shri Bhola Nathji:
"If He has a relationship with you, He shall come of Himself,
If it is within His laws to come, then He shall come by Himself,
Why are you running restlessly in search of Him!
Rest assured, if He be God, He shall come by Himself."
