"But, then, the Ramayana would not have been written, nor the beautiful deeds and teachings that came from it!
"Nor would the numerous people who sided with Rama in the forest, and the war with Ravana, have got a chance to serve Lord Rama and thus attain salvation!
"In order to give mankind a chance to serve Him, God has to come down upon earth in a vulnerable form, curtailing his Almighty Powers, so that mankind may get a chance to serve Him and thus attain salvation!
"Kewat, the poor boatman in the forest, recognised the Divinity of Lord Rama without a word being said. He took Lord Rama across a small river, and when Lord Rama asked him what He should pay the boatman for his services, Kewat said:
"I do not wish for any worldly payment.
I have taken you across this river, O Lord, Please take me across the Ocean of Life and Death, the Bhav Saagar, in return."
"Hanuman had the power to leap across the ocean by simply taking the Name of Lord Rama : 'Jai Shri Ram!' -- then why was it that Lord Rama had to build a bridge to cross the same ocean Himself?
"Only to give a chance to the people who built the bridge to serve Him - so that He could take them across the Ocean of Life and Death, the Bhav Saagar, and grant them salvation, in return.
