THE MEDALS THAT MAHARAJAS WORE

One often wonders what all those medals on the chests of Maharajas meant. Some of the Maharajas may have been decorated by the British, who used this form of flattery to keep the Maharajas loyal to them.

But for the rest, I dont believe there was anyone bigger than the Maharajas to decorate them with medals.

So it is my thinking that the Maharajas got these special medals made and decorated themselves with the medals on their chests as a measure of their own greatness and glory.

If no one else would decorate them, they would decorate themselves. Rightly has it been said, "charity begins at home."

Thus you could have medals that signified : Best Cricketer, Best Polo Player, Best Footballer, Best Rifleman, Best Commander, Best Maharaja in the whole world!
