CAN YOU LOSE FAITH IN GOD?

Thoughts of my Father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) a Great Spiritual Luminary of his time, who gave peace and beatitude to countless folk, relieving them of their ills and sorrows, and who called himself, the Servant of the Earth.
CAN YOU LOSE FAITH IN GOD?
There are many people who say that they used to have "faith" in God, but now they have lost faith.
The fact is that Faith is something that cannot be lost. If a person says he has lost faith it probably means that he never had any faith to start with.
Faith is that quality of life which grips you and you cannot leave it. We all have our five senses. Added to that is this all important sixth sense - and that is the sense of Faith.
You look at a red carpet and you say: "I have Faith the carpet is red!"
Now if anyone tells you to call the carpet green, firstly you will never say it is green because you have seen the color red. If, just to please the person and to avoid argument you agree and say, "OK, it's green!"--- even then your heart will bear witness to the fact that the carpet is red.
It is not you who have faith that the carpet is red, it is the red color of the carpet which is making you call it red! It is the Red color that is your Faith.
You have faith in yourself, that you exist. If the lights go out and you are all alone in the darkness, you will still have faith that you exist. You cannot run away from the sixth sense of Faith from the feeling of Faith.
You drink water and it satiates your thirst. You have faith that water can satiate your thirst. Now even if a hundred philosophers were to try to convince you that water does not satiate thirst, you will not believe them, because you have experienced the Faith in water yourself.
You are surrounded by darkness, and all you have with you is a candle giving you light. You lose faith in the candle and throw it away. You will then be in total darkness. Thus to lose Faith in God when in trouble is only to worsen the trouble for yourself.
You stand outside a locked house. Is anyone inside?
You call out and ask for a banana. And a banana is thrown out of the window.
You ask for an apricot and an apricot is thrown out of the window.
You are convinced there is someone inside the locked house.
Then you ask for a mango -- and nothing comes out.
Do you lose Faith that someone is inside the house? No. There is someone inside who answered your earlier prayers. If he does not answer some prayers now, it does not mean that He does not exist.
Maybe His silence is His answer.
Never lose Faith in God no matter what happens, or else you will feel you are all alone in the world.

GOD PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK

Here is a poem written by my father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji(1902-1992) who was a great Spiritual Luminary of his time and who gave peace and beatitude to countless folk, relieving them of their ills and sorrows.
He called himself the Servant of the Earth, and would say:
"I have no mission except Love in this world,
My mission is Love and my work is Love!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The poem depicts God playing hide and seek with his lovers and indeed with the people of the world. Every action of His is to draw the people of the world to Himself so that their lives can find fulfillment. But reaching Him is not an easy task. It is fraught with many a peril, many a storm, many a test. But always there is the Voice of God calling out to man in the innermost depths of his heart, drawing him closer and closer to himself, through sorrows and joys, and finally through Death in which God comes to take away everything, all the wealth and all the glory which man has acquired in life. All that God asks for in return is a place in the heart of man, a place which must always remain reserved for Him and Him alone!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
O COME AND CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
O WHAT A JOY IT WILL BE! RUN NOW TOWARDS ME,
AND CATCH ME, CATCH ME, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!
I AM THE LORD OF ALL THOSE INTOXICATED IN LOVE
COME AND CATCH HOLD OF ME, CATCH ME, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!
SOMETIMES THROUGH FORCE AND SOMETIMES WITH PLAYFULNESS, I COME TO AWAKEN,
I FILL THE HEART WITH PIERCING CARESSES, COME AND CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
IF I COME IN PHYSICAL FORM I CAN REMOVE IT, LIKE GLOVES WORN AND TAKEN OFF,
MY PRESENT STATE I CAN TRANSFORM AS I PLEASE, COME AND CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!
BEHOLD! COMING TOWARDS ME THOU SHALL TURN INTO ME, MYSELF!
CATCH HOLD OF THYSELF IF YOU MUST, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!
THEY SAY, " HE HAS FLOWN! HE HAS GONE AWAY!" BUT WHERE WILL I GO?
TURN THY HEADS AND LOOK THIS WAY, HERE I AM, COME AND CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!
HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE GAMES I PLAY WITH CLEVERNESS
ABOUNDING WITH MIRACLES AND ABSOLUTE FEARLESSNESS
O THOU KINGS AND EMPERORS AND THE LEARNED FOLK OF THE WORLD,
LET ME TELL YOU MYSELF THE SECRET THAT IS HIDDEN FROM ALL
WITH MY OWN MOUTH LET ME PROCLAIM IT BEFORE ALL!
THROUGH EVERY MEANS POSSIBLE, I TAKE AWAY, COMING AS DEATH,
THE WEALTH AND TITLES, THE HONOR AND GLORY OF ALL!
THERE IS ONE HURT, O DEAR FRIENDS, THAT I CAN NEVER ENDURE,
IF THOU GIVE PLACE TO ANYONE ELSE BUT MYSELF IN THY HEARTS!
EVEN THE GREAT AND THE MIGHTY TREMBLE,
WHEN THEY LOOK UPON ME COMING AS A STORM
I AM THE LORD OF ALL THOSE INTOXICATED BY LOVE
CATCH ME, CATCH ME, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!!

GOD PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK

NEVER SHALL IT END - THIS EXISTENCE OF OURS

A very touching Ghazal, Urdu Poem, written by my father HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) in 1985 and sung by me at the time he wrote it. HH Shri Bhola Nathji wrote about 30,000 Ghazals in the Urdu Language between the ages of 80 -90, the largest number ever written by any poet of the time.
All his Urdu Lyrics were written during periods of acute illness, but resonated with optimism for humanity and an inner divine bliss which remained with him all the time. His incredibly beautiful personality, full of love and compassion for humanity, shone with a light divine which gave him an unearthly glow. People experienced God in him. He gave peace and beatitude to countless folk relieving them of their ills and sorrows.
He called himself "The Servant of the Earth" and it was his voice:
"I have no mission except love in this world.
My mission is love and my work is love."
============================================================
English Translation of the Ghazal: Urdu Lyrics in Song
Never shall it come to an end- this existence of ours,
It shall remain perennially green this garden of ours,
All the Bliss in the world is to be found here, all the peace,
On a new Foundation doth rest this world of ours,
We have come into this world and know not when we must leave,
It is but a two days's stay in this world, this abode of ours
It has come into every heart, it is loved by every heart,
In this perishable world, this voice of ours,

People lack the time or else they would find the All Merciful,
This is the message that I have to give with all the power of my words
This spark of Love has lit the entire earth,
Ask of the moth and it shall know of this secret of ours,
O Nath, thy world now has a beautiful and blissful Face,
It has been revealed upon all this revelation of ours!

CALLING ALL MUSICIANS AND MUSIC LOVERS

==================================================
THOUGHTS OF HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI (1902-1992) A GREAT SPIRITUAL LUMINARY OF OUR TIMES WHO GAVE PEACE AND BEATITUDE TO COUNTLESS SOULS, RELIEVING OF THEIR SORROWS AND SUFFERINGS.

HE CALLED HIMSELF: GHULAM RUE ZAMEEN, WHICH MEANS "THE SERVANT OF THE EARTH.

AND HE WOULD SAY"

"I HAVE NO MISSION EXCEPT LOVE IN THIS WORLD,
MY MISSION IS LOVE AND MY WORK IS LOVE!'

ALL WHO CAME TO HIM FOUND THIS INDEFINABLE ATTRACTION OF DIVINE LOVE IN HIM THAT WON THE HEARTS OF ALL

=============================================

"The notes of music lie asleep within the strings of a sitar.
The strings, that stretch from one end of the board to the other, have within them a sweet, sonorous melody that lies unawakened.

The strings are silent, and they wait in the hope of hearing the song that will once again set them vibrating with joy. They look to someone else for music, though they have within them what they seek!

Their yearning, expressed in their silence, bursts forth into an intense desire that beckons a musician. He comes.

He lifts the sitar, picks up the ‘mizraab’, to pluck the strings with, and, then, placing his fingers on the strings, sets the air ringing with the strings of a beautiful, haunting refrain.

The strings feel again the joy of their souls but do not know from whence the melody comes.

The musician lifts up his fingers. The song is at an end. The notes die out in the emptiness of air and the musician’s voice is heard.

“It is you in whom this wondrous music lies. Someone was needed to bring to an end your silence, and to bring out from within you that music which lay concealed; and to recreate it before you, even as the wind reveals to the ocean its own form as the waves, and the reflection of a mirror reveals to the viewer his own face.”

THIS WORLD AND ITS PROMISES ARE WRONG

You must have observed many a time in life that whenever you put your faith and trust and love behind any specific person in the world, be it your nearest friend or loved ones, there come times when you are absolutely shocked by their betrayal, especially when their own self-interest comes in the way. Then you find out you had been wrong in placing all your loyalty, love and trust in them.
This happens to all good souls in the world. Even the Great Saviours, Prophets and Saints and Sages have found this happening in their lives, when their pain-filled voice comes in the words below, of my Grandfather (1867-1940) Shri Babaji Bhagwan.
My Grandfather-- who was a Great Saint, a millionaire, who gave away all his wealth to the people of the world and served humanity all his life, giving them peace and beatitude and relieving them of their ills and sorrows, wrote these words when he saw the betrayal of the world around him:
"The promises of worldly men are a deception,
They are wrong,
This night is wrong,
Tomorrow night is wrong,
Ask me not of the dictionary of my life,
I am wrong, my dictation wrong, my grammar wrong!"

STEPS TO ENLIGHTENMENT & PEACE

Thoughts of my Father, H.H. Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) a Great Spiritual Luminary of His time who gave peace and beatitude to countless folk relieving them of their ills and sorrows and who called himself The Servant of the Earth. His writings still give peace to mankind and show people the way to a peaceful life. Below are small extracts from his teachings.
=======================================================
STEPS TO ENLIGHTENMENT & PEACE
In this hectic world of today where we are plagued by worries and the rat race of materialistic life, we need something short which will remain within our minds and hearts and give us peace of mind.
Here are some points that will be of Great Help:
1. Always remember this life is a temporary journey which will come to an end one day. When we get into the train of life there are others who are present before us-- they are our parents and other relatives. As the train proceeds onward, more people get inside the train. These are the relationships that we make in life later on. As the train proceeds further, many get off in our presence, and in the end we get off in the presence of others. This is Life.
2. That it is important that the destination be good. If you travel in the first class with all its luxuries but the destination is going to be bad, then the entire journey is wasted. But if you travel in the third class with discomfort and you know the destination is going to be good, then the troubles of the journey become of no consequence.
3. That the history of the world shows that billions have come into this world and have gone away. Even those who are present before us are leaving the world one by one. Therefore it is certain that we too have come into this world only to go away.
4. That whatever comes before us, whether it is happiness or sorrow, it shall pass away with time. Let us not be affected too much by either sorrow or joy, because both have come only to go away.
5. That too much attachment to the things of the world can only lead to grief and sorrow. This is because nothing in the world is permanent and all things and people are perishable.
6. You take a beautiful flower in your hand, and before you know it, the flower fades away before your eyes and breaks your heart.
7. That sorrow is like the dark winter night and the little happiness that we find in the world is like the twinkling stars that exist in this ocean of darkness.
8. There is the ultimate sorrow that lies in wait for all of us -- Death. Separation from loved ones and every other material possession we loved.
9.Live your life like you would live out a journey in a train , knowing that you have boarded the train only to leave it. No one boards the train to stay permanently in the train. No one comes into this world to stay here forever. He comes here only to leave it.
10.Remember Death always and also remember God, who has created Life as well as Death and who is your ultimate destination after the journey of life is over.
11. Let God be your Real Companion in this journey of life who will not only make the journey peaceful but who will take you to His Eternal Home which is the Real Destination of Life.

MAY ALL OFFER PRAYERS FOR PEACE AND THE ALLEVIATION OF THE ILLS AND SORROWS OF MANKIND TODAY ON THE 23RD OF JUNE.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI(1902-1992) WAS A GREAT SPIRITUAL LUMINARY OF HIS TIME WHO GAVE PEACE AND BEATITUDE TO COUNTLESS FOLK RELIEVING THEM OF THEIR ILLS AND SORROWS.
HE FIRMLY BELIEVED IN THE POWER OF PRAYER AND CALLED UPON PEOPLE EVERYWHERE TO OFFER PRAYERS FOR PEACE AND THE ALLEVIATION OF THE ILLS AND SORROWS OF MANKIND. THE APPEAL WAS SIMPLE:
"PRAY WHEREVER YOU ARE,
IN WHATEVER WAY YOU LIKE."
HERE IS A PICTURE OF HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI LEADING THE AUDIENCE IN PRAYER ON THE 23RD OF JUNE 1992, IN NEW DELHI, INDIA
PRAYER FOR PEACE
O Lord God of all Creation,
The Lord of the heavens and the earth,
The Creator of the sun, moon, stars and galaxies around us,
The Creator of this vast and magnificent Universe,
Thou, the Creator of the continents and the races that dwell therein,
The Creator of Science and Art and all of knowledge,
The world today is threatened by the spectre of total annihilation,
Terrible weapons of destruction have come into existence,
There is fear, distrust and unrest in all spheres of the world,
Any moment a holocaust may engulf the human race,
No man or nation or group of nations can halt this catastrophic flow of events,
There is one and only one Super Power that can help mankind and that Power is Thee,
It is in Thee alone that mankind can find a panacea for all its ills,
Thou, who could create the world in a single wish, can also save it in a single wish,
We call out to Thee in prayer from this hall today, and from all corners of the world,
To have mercy upon Thy children and listen to the prayer of the world,
Made collectively on this day, the 23rd of of June.
We beseech Thee O Lord to change the hearts of men so that peace and love may prevail,
So that nations may discard weapons and other means of destruction and live in harmony,
So that all differences may vanish and oneness exist all over the world,
We pray to Thee, O God, to free mankind of all its sufferings, mental or physical,
To advance Science and Religion so that they may work together for World Peace,
So that each man may look upon another as his brother, regardless of race, religion or nationality,
So that all shall be Thy children and Thou the Universal Father,
So that all may feel Thy living presence upon earth and say that God is now here,
So that Thy Mercy and Grace may shower down upon this earth, today on June the 23rd and ever after.

ON FATHER'S DAY, IN JUNE 2015

ALL HAVE ONE FATHER AND ALL ARE HIS CHILDREN
---His Holiness Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992)
HH Shri Bhola Nathji was a Great Spiritual Luminary of our times who gave peace and beatitude to countless folk relieving them of their ills and sorrows. He called himself the Servant of the Earth and he would say:
"I have no mission except Love in this world,
My mission is Love and my work is Love"
It was his message that:
ALL HAVE ONE FATHER AND ALL ARE HIS CHILDREN.
GOD IS THE FATHER OF EACH AND EVERY BEING UPON THE PLANET EARTH AND IN THE UNIVERSE.
ON THIS FATHER'S DAY WE SEEK THE BLESSINGS OF THE UNIVERSAL FATHER OF MANKIND, GOD, NOT ONLY FOR ALL THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD BUT ALSO FOR THEIR PARENTS.
MAY HIS PROTECTING HAND REMAIN OVER EVERYONE UPON EARTH AND MAY THEY EXPERIENCE THE DIVINE LOVE OF THE DIVINE FATHER FROM HIS HEAVENLY SPHERE.
After my Father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji had left the planet earth in his physical form, the Editor of an Urdu Newspaper, Mr. J.L. Sharma of New Delhi, had this vision of HH Shri Bhola Nathji riding amongst the clouds on a throne, showering His Blessings upon the people of the Earth who he looked upon as His children.
This vision was very beautifully re-constructed and decorated by Sonu Nath an ardent devotee of HH Shri Bhola Nathji, and is very apt for this Divine Father's Day.
The other picture shows HH Shri Bhola Nathji with his arms extended towards all of humanity saying out loud: "O My Children, come to me! Let me embrace you!"
May the Divine Father keep us in His loving embrace for all time to come.

STATUES MADE IN HONOR OF HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI

For this coming 23rd of June the Day of Prayers for Peace and the alleviation of the ills and sorrows of man, two twin statues of HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) have been presented with great love and devotion by the famous PRATIBHA-SHILP scuplting company run by a mother and son team -- the mother being Mrs. Prabtibha Ingle, and the son being Shantanu Ingle, located in Nagpur, Maharashtra in Central India.
The statues were brought to the Himalayan Mountains with great difficulty by train and bus and taxi over a distance of 1400 kilometers through heavy rain and water- logging of the train tracks and roads.
On the very day the Statues arrived in the mountains, the rain stopped suddenly and a bright sun shone over the Himalayas as if welcoming the Statues of HH Shri Bhola Nathji who had loved the Himalayas so much and spent much of his life there.
I am seen sitting beneath the statues and the photographs, in preparation for the Day of Prayer to be observed on June 23, 2015 in homage to my father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji on his 113th Birth Anniversary.

PRAY FOR PEACE AND THE REMOVAL OF ALL ILLS AND SORROWS ON JUNE 23, 2015.

MY FATHER, HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI (1902-1992) WAS A GREAT SPIRITUAL LUMINARY OF HIS TIME. WHO GAVE PEACE AND BEATITUDE TO COUNTLESS SOULS, RELIEVING THEM OF THEIR ILLS AND SORROWS. AND WHO CALLED HIMSELF, THE SERVANT OF THE EARTH.
ON JUNE 23, IS HIS 113th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY.
HE WOULD SAY:
"I HAVE NO MISSION EXCEPT LOVE IN THIS WORLD,
MY MISSION IS LOVE AND MY WORK IS LOVE
HIS APPEAL TO HUMANITY WAS:
'PRAY WHEREVER YOU IN WHATEVER WAY YOU LIKE,
FOR LOVE AND PEACE AND THE REMOVAL OF THE ILLS AND SORROWS OF THE WORLD"
ON THIS 23RD OF JUNE WE CELEBRATE THE 113th BIRTHDAY OF HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI AND DEDICATE THIS DAY FOR PRAYERS FOR PEACE AS A HOMAGE TO ONE WHO CALLED HIMSELF THE SERVANT OF THE EARTH AND WHO LIVED TILL THE AGE OF 90, BLESSING PEOPLE EVERYWHERE AND WISHING THAT THE WORLD BECOME A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN.
THERE IS MUCH CONFLICT, HATRED, INTOLERANCE AND VIOLENCE IN THE WORLD TODAY. WHILE GOVERNMENTS AND LAWS ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO ALLEVIATE THIS SITUATION YET A PERMANENT SOLUTION IS ONLY POSSIBLE WHEN THERE IS A CHANGE IN THE HEARTS OF PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.
THIS CHANGE CAN ONLY COME ABOUT THROUGH DIVINE INTERVENTION.
THE GREATEST SUPERPOWER IN THE WORLD IS GOD AND HE CAN CHANGE THE HEARTS OF PEOPLE FROM HATRED TO LOVE, FROM INTOLERANCE TO TOLERANCE, FROM VIOLENCE TO NON-VIOLENCE.
LET US ALL COLLECTIVELY TURN TOWARDS HIM AND OFFER PRAYERS IN OUR OWN PLACES OF WORSHIP, OR IN OUR HOMES IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR OWN RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, AND SURELY THE PRAYERS WILL BE HEARD AND GOD WILL CHANGE THE HEARTS OF PEOPLE SO THAT LOVE AND PEACE WILL PREVAIL AND THE MISERIES OF THE WORLD SHALL GO AWAY.
IT WAS THE DREAM OF HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI:
"EVEN AS EVERY NIGHT MUST TURN INTO DAY AND EVERY AUTUMN MUST TURN INTO SPRING SO IT IS THE VOICE OF MY HEART THAT THE TIME SHALL COME WHEN ONE GOD SHALL EXIST FOR ALL, AND ALL SHALL BE HIS CHILDREN, LOVE SHALL BE HIS WORSHIP, AND THE HEARTS OF MEN SHALL KNOW AN EVERLASTING PEACE."

MAKE SUCH A FRIEND IN LIFE...

FROM THE WRITINGS OF HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI (1902-1992) A GREAT SPIRITUAL LUMINARY OF HIS TIME WHO GAVE PEACE AND BEATITUDE TO COUNTLESS SOULS, RELIEVING THEM OF THEIR ILLS AND SORROWS. HE USED TO CALL HIMSELF ' THE SERVANT OF THE EARTH' AND IT WAS HIS VOICE:

' I HAVE NO MISSION EXCEPT LOVE IN THIS WORLD,
MY MISSION IS LOVE AND MY WORK IS LOVE'

We all make friends in life, some of which remain true all one's life while others remain friends but maintain a distance. There are others who simply betray you or walk out on you.

The higher the status of the friend, the greater will he maintain his distance from you. If you have the President as your friend, he may not meet you at all!!

Now suppose you say to a very powerful friend:

"Remain with me all the time,
Be ready to come whenever I call,
Never be separate from me even for a moment!
Always keep me in your embrace!"

Will anyone agree? Not even a servant, far less a rich and powerful person.
There is no one will will come running when you snap your fingers, be it day or night, no one who will bother to care for you and leave aside everything else for your Sake.

But then what did HH Shri Bhola Nathji mean when he wrote?

"MAKE SUCH A FRIEND IN LIFE,
WHO WILL NEVER BETRAY YOU,
WHO WILL NEVER BREAK YOUR HEART!
WHO WILL COME RUNNING AT ONCE, WHEN YOU NEED HIM,
WHO WILL ALWAYS KEEP YOU IN HIS EMBRACE,
WHO WILL NEVER REMAIN AWAY FROM YOU EVEN FOR A SINGLE STEP!"

Indeed - who? No one upon this earth.

There can be only One such Being, One who is living only for your sake and has no other purpose in life. What a wonderful thing it would be to be able to get such a friend!

But who is He and where is He?

HE IS GOD. AND YOU DONT HAVE TO SEARCH FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS SITTING INSIDE YOUR HEART, AND NEVER SEPARATE FROM YOU FOR EVEN A MOMENT.

HE IS WITH YOU ONLY FOR YOUR SAKE TO SERVE YOU DAY AND NIGHT WHENEVER YOU NEED HIM.

AND NOT ONLY YOU, BUT EVERY PERSON UPON THE PLANET EARTH, AND INDEED ANYWHERE WHERE THERE IS LIFE IN THIS VAST UNIVERSE WITH MILLIONS OF GALAXIES AND MILLIONS OF WORLDS WITH LIFE.

YES, HE IS TRULY THE SERVANT OF THE EARTH AND THE UNIVERSE!

HH SHRI NATHJI AND SCIENTISTS

HH Shri Bhola Nathji, (1902-1992) A Great Spiritual Luminary of his time, who gave peace and beatitude to countless souls during his lifetime, relieving them of their ills and sorrows.
Unlike many religious leaders, HH Shri Bhola Nathji had a large place in his heart for atheists and scientists.
He would often say:
"The Discoveries of Science come from the same Source as the Revelations of Religion - from God!
"Both Religion and Science are trying to alleviate the sorrows and miseries of mankind in their own ways.
"It is my prediction that the Ultimate Discovery of Science will be God!"
"In the meanwhile we can say that Scientists are decorating the World of God!"
Here he is seen standing at the world's leading science institute.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, known familiarly as
M.I.T. in 1964 and located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
He is also seen standing at Harvard University at the statue of John Harvard the Founder of Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA, at a time when I, as his son, Priya Nath Mehta, was studying Nuclear Physics at Harvard University.

"TOO MUCH OF ENLIGHTENMENT"

FROM THE PARABLES OF MY FATHER, HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI (1902-1992), A GREAT SPIRITUAL LUMINARY OF HIS TIME WHO GAVE PEACE AND BEATITUDE TO COUNTLESS SOULS RELIEVING THEM OF THEIR ILLS AND SORROWS.
==================================
"TOO MUCH OF ENLIGHTENMENT"
There was a mystic, a yogi and enlightened soul, who people held in deep reverence.
He had a strange method of consoling grieving people.
If someone's mother died, he would go to their house and begin to dance with great swerve and swing and twirl and bounce, to show the great bliss that exuded from him.
He believed Death to be a Liberation and rejoiced at the going of the liberated soul to Heaven.
Then one day his own mother died.
He danced on that day too - but his dance lacked its usual swerve and bounce.
People who preach to others must know of their own weaknesses first.

"CAN YOU TELL LIES BEFORE GOD?"

From the memoirs of my father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) a Great Spiritual Luminary of his time, who called himself the Servant of the Earth, and who gave Peace and Beatitude to countless folk during his lifetime, relieving them of their ills and sorrows.

Even though he called himself the Servant of the Earth there were many who experienced God in him.

One day he said to a small gathering amongst which were probably folk who were concealing many of their faults.

"Can you tell lies before God? Think before you pray for anything, knowing it to be wrong. You are praying before God, one of whose attributes is that He is All Knowing. So how can you conceal anything from One who is All Knowing?

"He knows of your thoughts and feelings even before they come to you! He knows whether you are lying or telling the truth, he knows whether you are concealing anything from Him.

"Tell me, can you lie to yourself? You are sitting before me here in Delhi, now try and tell yourself that you are in Bombay! Your own heart and mind will tell you that you are lying to yourself, because you know you are in Delhi! So it is impossible for anyone to tell lies to his own self!

"Remember God is within your heart, your soul, He is your very life! He who is within you knows of every thought and feeling within you, He knows what is right and what is wrong!

"So if you cannot lie to your own heart and soul, how can you lie to that Power which lies behind the heart and soul!"

"If you have done something wrong, then do not ask God for His Justice, or you will be caught, as no arguments in the Divine Court will save you! Do not ask for Justice, ask for His Mercy and Forgiveness and you will be forgiven.

" In the Divine Court, His Justice is His Mercy, to those who repent genuinely for their wrongs!!"

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO EVERYONE

When God chose to send you into the world He sent you through a Mother, and he put this instinct of Spontaneous Love and Protection in your mother's heart. She cared for you, loved you, protected you and gave you everything in life that you needed. As a matter of fact I would say that your mother was the first face of God that you saw when you came into this world.
When the Emperor Akbar's mother died, at a time when he was very old himself, he started weeping loudly in his royal court. When people wondered how a strong man like Akbar could weep whose sword had swept the whole of India, this is what he said:
"There will be many who will bow before me, obey my orders, serve me and protect me-- but where will I hear that loving voice of a mother that would angrily say:
'Akbar, why havent you changed your clothes! Why havent you taken your meals!'
Who will be there to chide me as lovingly as she did? She is irreplaceable."
On this Mother's Day we pay Homage to our dear Mothers if they are still with us and we pay homage to the souls of those loving Mothers if they are in Heaven!!
When I was a child I became very attached to my mother, even though my father was equally loving. But I dont suppose that any love in the world can replace the love of a mother.
We lived in a large house in the Hills, and I would follow my mother around from room to room. I was afraid I might lose her one day! As a matter of fact I was so disconsolate without her that for a month after I was put in kindergarten and had to be away from home, I made her sit with me in class, with the permission of the Reverend Mother of the School.
I saw a Hindi Movie in one of the local cinema halls in which a little girl was rocking the cradle in which her mother had kept her as a child and she was singing in Hindi:
"Maa! Pyaari Maa!
Bhoole Na jhoole ke Din"
" Mother! O Dearly Loved Mother!
How can I forget those days of the cradle!"
She was singing this song to the portrait of her mother who had left the world.
Ever since that day I was in a state of virtual panic that I would lose my mother too. Subconsciously that may have been the reason for my following her from room to room in the house and making her sit with me in school.
When I was on my flight to Harvard in the USA, and my parents stood at the airport, and as my plane went up in the sky, I felt as if I was leaving behind everything and going to nothing, and I shed tears of sorrow.
At Harvard I was studying for my Master's and Ph.D in Nuclear Physics, but all the years that I was there the thought my of Mother remained deep inside my heart!
Then she fell ill and I telephoned the hospital in London where she was.
The nurse said: "Mr. Mehta, your mother is very very ill, you better come immediately!"
I left Harvard and the USA immediately, leaving behind my car, clothes, apartment my job and my studies-- all of which became meaningless. A bridge of helping hands came to help me at every stage, my friends and professors at Harvard, the local public at Cambridge, Boston and New York Airport. And within a day or two I was in London.
I found my mother lying very ill. She said to me: "Priya, now that you have come, this happiness will remain with me forever!!" And then she became unconscious. Perhaps she had been waiting to say these last words to me.
My father, brother and I, rushed her in an ambulance to the Emergency Unit of the St, Mary's Hospital in London. The doctor in charge came out and said to us:
"You better go home and come in the morning! This might be a long case!"
We went back to our rented apartment in London. The moment we got there, the telephone rang. As I was the closest to the phone I picked it up.
And I was destined to hear these fateful words, which I had dreaded all my life:
"Mr. Mehta, this is St. Mary's Hospital. Your mother just died!!"
It was a shock I recovered from only after many years, when everything in the world appeared to me to be without meaning. There was a gap in my heart which nothing could fill.
Her Name was Smt. Savitri Devi, also known as Mahamateshwari. Today we live in her home, our ancestral home which is named : "Savitri Nivas", "The Abode of Savitri," and I can feel her presence in the house, loving me and protecting me all the time. I know that she is protecting the children of the world everywhere from her heavenly abode and giving them her love and nearness.
Of Course my Father remained like a Father and Mother to me all my life so that I did not miss her that much.
I commiserate with all those who have lost their mothers in life, and I pray for those whose mother's are still alive, that God give them the strength to face that inevitable loss in their lives to come.
And I Salute Mother's Day and I salute all the mothers of the world and bow my head before them all!

THE WEDDING THAT SHOOK A CITY

The year was 1939 and the city was Lahore, then in India, much before the creation of Pakistan.

The wedding was between my parents. My Father HH Shri Bhola Nathji ( 1902-1992) and my mother Smt. Savitri Devi ( 1916- 1967).

HH Shri Nathji was later the Founder of the World Prayer Day for peace in the world.

My father HH Shri Bhola Nathji was well known in Lahore as one of the most divine beings ever seen, with a beauty that surpassed earthly beauty, with a love and kindness and humility that was not witnessed in ordinary mortals, which led people to see God In him as the Incarnation of Love.

Miracles followed him wherever he went and though people gave him the reverence reserved only for God, he called himself in all humility, The Servant of the Earth, and his life was spent alleviating the ills and sorrows of mankind. He kept an open house, where anyone could enter any time of the day or night, where there were no appointment hours, and where his home was everyone's home.

His wife to be Savitri Devi, a graduate in Economics, was the daughter of a Senior Advocate of Lahore, the All India Legal Adviser of the Punjab National Bank and a person held in high respect amongst the people of Lahore.

The wedding procession of the groom wound through the Main Road in Lahore. There were about 500 invited guests and relatives which accompanied the procession- called a baraat.

Shri Nathji rode on the bridal mare bedecked in a silver embroidered achkan, long coat and a turban to match. The Maharaja of Kapurthala had sent his sword as well as his silver embroidered Umbrella Canopy for Shri Nathji as he rode along slowly with the guests.

News had gotten around the city that Shri Nathji was getting married, and this had caused a large number of people to be gathered around on the streets and the road. Many of these people joined the wedding procession. Shopkeepers walked out of their shops and joined in, there were many holy men dressed in orange robes who joined in, the poor and the stragglers in the streets joined in. Very soon the baraat had swelled to a few thousand folk.

The city was agog with the news of Shri Nathji's wedding procession and everyone wished to join in on this auspicious occasion! The large number of gas lamps carried on the shoulders of torch bearers and the military bands gave the procession a unique air of gaiety and joy.

But more than that was a divine wave of happiness that was filing the hearts of all present, an inexplicable bliss that appeared to come from another world as if the gods were showering their bliss upon earth. The figure on the bridal mare, Shri Nathji, appeared to be a living epitome of Peace and Love, which filled the air.

A proud and haughty Englishman whose car was being held back in the crowd, suddenly began to blow his horn and began to tear through the procession causing many to protest but in vain. The country was under British rule and any Britisher could afford to be high and mighty and overbearing. The man tore through the procession scattering people hither and thither and almost causing the bridal mare to panic.

The Englishman's car had gone but a few yards ahead of the procession when the engine stalled and the man was seen stranded on the road with the hood of his car raised.

As Shri Nathji passed by with his countenance full of Divine Love and peace, something gripped the heart of the Englishman and he saluted Shri Nathji saying : " I salute the Being on the Horse!"

At the bride's place there was panic. The father of the bride had made arrangements for only five hundred guests and had called cooks from Kashmir. But when news reached him that there were several thousand people coming, his heart sank.

He rushed to his daughter Savitri Devi and spoke of his plight. It would be a great dishonor to not to be able to feed the wedding guests of the groom!

But Savitri Devi had full faith in Shri Nathji and said to her father:
" Don't fret!! Go into the kitchen area and place a portrait of Shri Nathji there! The food will multiply!"

Her father did as he was told and behold! a miracle occurred-- though the thousands of guests ate to their hearts content there was no shortage of food!! The entire city was later agog with the miracle witnessed by many. They all attributed this to the divine power of Shri Nathji.

There were some bigoted religionists, holy men who said critically:
"Shri Nathji will lose all his divine powers now that he is getting married!!"

When Shri Nathji heard of this he said: "Tell them, how can I lose my powers when I am marrying my better half!! In fact my powers shall be doubled!!"

And that was precisely what happened. After Shri Nathji's marriage the glory of his divine light shone forth with a hitherto inexperienced brilliance. It was a day that the people of Lahore did not forget for many years to come..the day when Shri Nathji got married..when holiness became even holier through a Divine Union of Divine Souls...

THE HOME OF SHEIKH SAADI GREAT POET

.
My Father HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) a Great Spirtual Luminary of his time who gave peace and beatitude to countless people relieving them of their ills and sorrows, and who called himself "Ghulam Rue Zameen-- The Servant of the Earth" often used to narrate this story about Sheikh Saadi.
Sheikh Saadi was a great philosopher and mystical poet of his time who lived in Ancient Persia (1210-1291) AD and who was renowned for his poetry, and patronised by kings and sheikhs. A man of his stature was often thought of as a very rich poet.
As legend goes, a man from a distant town came to the town of Sheikh Saadi just to get an audience with the great man. The stranger who came to the town asked for directions and was shown the way by the people of the town. He was expecting to see a huge palace or a mansion for a man of this fame and stature.
However, when he reached the home of Sheikh Saadi, he was astonished to find that it was just a small hut of grass and straw.
In sheer amazement he called out to the poet from outside the door in Persian:
"Khaanaye Saadi choon deedam ba yak mushte khar o khas ast"
"I saw the house of Saadi and it was but a handful of grass and straw!"
Sheikh Saadi was sitting inside his hut at the time and replied in a loud tone which was audible to the stranger outside:
"Kaarvaane raihravaan raa een qadar manzil bas ast"
"For the Caravan of Life that moves on, this much of a resting place is enough!"
The two lines when put together formed the famous Verse:
"Khaanaye Saadi choon deedam ba yak mushte khar o khas ast"
"Kaarvaane raihravaan raa een qadar manzil bas ast"
in Engish:
""I saw the house of Saadi and it was but a handful of grass and straw!"
"For the Caravan of Life that moves on, this much of a resting place is enough!"
What Shekh Saadi meant was that this life is a temporary journey , like a caravan passing by, and whatever time man had to live out his life could be spent with contentment in any way--even in a straw hut.

Earthquakes apart, this was a great lesson to the world of materialism, to people who devote their lives in pursuit of wealth and become drunk with it that real happiness lies not in wealth but in contentment

SAFEST HOMES IN EARTHQUAKES- STRAW HUTS

If we all have to suffer the consequences of repeated earthquakes which appear to be spreading all over the world, then the people of the world will have to do some re-thinking on how they want to live.
Do they want to live in houses which will crush them to death or do they want to live in homes which they can throw away in times of quakes?
I am referring to the safest possible homes that should be considered by humanity--- STRAW HUTS, instead of multi-million dollar homes or flats. Losing a little prestige is better than losing one's life.
Here are pictures of straw huts and a straw hut colony! Going back to the stone age?
Maybe that is what Nature is demanding of man, now that his advancing civilisation has evolved to a point of self-destruction through nuclear annihilation.
Maybe Nature wants us to take a step backwards, and maybe Mother Earth will stop revolting so much against man!!

32 TIMES STRONGER EARTHQUAKE IN THE MAKING

While over 6000 people have been counted as dead, a total count of 15,000 is expected overall in this present earthquake in Nepal, and over 67 have died in India which may go up to 100.
According to news received and also according to US scientists who visited Nepal a much more powerful earthquake is in the making. The Energy released thus far was only a small portion of the energy that is building up 40 Km beneath the surface of the earth in the crash of the Asian and Indian tectonic plates. Of course they do not know when this may happen. You may read the news item below.
I am reminded of my Father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji's (1902-1992) words:
"The Hunter has his eye on every branch
Of this tree of Life,
So that none of these
Shall become my home!"
Even without the earthquakes, Death is a certainty in the life of every single person who is living on this planet earth. Even if he escapes from the planet and goes to Mars or other planets elsewhere, the same fate will meet him there.
What is Life? That which must go, that which is uncertain.
What is Death? That which must come, that which is certain.
While we concentrate on Life we forget the inevitable Death to come. We forget that Life is a temporary sojourn on earth and our real home lies elsewhere. While all our preparations are made for the journey, no preparations are made for the inevitable destination. We think of the journey as our home and we do not even know where our home lies....
If we wish to reach God in an afterlife we must divest ourselves of our pride, our evil within, our selfishness, hatred, revenge, lust for material things, and everything that is bad, and turn towards universal love, helping others, forgiveness, truthfulness, unselfishness, righteousness, faith in God.
Evil is a Veil between man and God. We must go from Evil to Good and from Good to God..
Then no matter where we are and in what circumstances we have to leave the world at least we will know that we are going to the house of our Eternal Friend.

EARTHQUAKES, DO'S AND DON'TS

AN EARTHQUAKE PROVES TO THE WORLD THAT, ONE DAY, THEIR WEALTH AND HIGH RISE BUILDINGS, THEIR MATERIAL PROSPERITY, BEGINS TO THREATEN THEM NO END, AND THEY WONDER WHAT THEY HAD BEEN LIVING FOR, WHY THEY HAD BEEN EXPANDING THEIR WEALTH AND WHY THEY HAD BEEN EXPANDING THEIR FAMILIES, IF EVERYTHING WERE GOING TO PERISH INTO DUST ONE TERRIBLE DAY.
AT SUCH TIMES THEY FEEL THAT THE SAFEST PLACE TO LIVE IN WOULD HAVE BEEN A STRAW HUT -- WHICH THOUGH DIFFICULT TO LIVE IN, WOULD NOT HARM THEM IF IT COLLAPSED ON THEM IN AN EARTHQUAKE.
SCIENCE WITH ALL ITS INGENUITY HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO INVENT ANYTHING THAT CAN STOP AN EARTHQUAKE AND PROBABLY NEVER WILL.
THE EARTHQUAKE IN NEPAL HAD THE ENERGY OF 504 ATOMIC BOMBS EXPLODING TOGETHER.
Here is what the "experts" are saying these days on TV about what to do and what not to do in earthquakes.
1.An earthquake by itself poses little danger apart from the tremors and jerks. The real danger is from the collapse of the buildings upon the people inside and outside in narrow streets.
2. There is little chance that a huge hole or crevice will open up on solid ground or in a field or a park.
3. So the thing to do is to get out of the house as quickly as possible, and get out into an open park or open ground not surrounded all around by houses.
4. But while inside the house, if you find there is little chance of getting outside because the jerk is too big and has made the house fall, == then the thing to do is to get into a corner of the room. The corners of rooms have less of a chance of falling roofs.
5. The other thing is to get under a bed, or a table which will cushion the shock of the falling rocks from the ceiling.
6. Another thing is to keep a pillow over your head.
7. If you are living in a multi-storeyed building then DONT take the elevator to get down to the ground floor-- because when the building is shaking the elevator which is already in a narrow space will get stuck, and you will be stuck inside the elevator while the building collapses, elevator and all.
8. The experts say you must take the staircase. This will be difficult and will mean climbing down many, many steps. It will be very difficult for the sick and the elderly and those with a lot of fat on them.
9. Once you are outside, dont stop and stand to look at the falling building, just run from the spot until you find a safe open space.
10. Remember to take water with you if you have the time.

EARTHQUAKE PROTECTION USING HELMET

Dearest Friends,
I am deeply touched by your concern, and am sure your prayers and good wishes are keeping us all safe here despite the tremors and jerks which keep coming sporadically.
While various methods have been advised by Earthquake Experts to save oneself from falling bricks, walls and roofs, - like getting under the table or under the bed, or standing in a corner of the room, or putting a pillow on the head, it surprises me that no one thought of the simplest protection available almost with every person -- a motorcycle, or scooter, helmet.
I got several of these from a Computer shop. The Shop owner was surprised when I told him I needed them for earthquake protection. He told me:
"No one has thought of it except you!"
I hope all my friends who are in earthquake prone areas will get enough motorcycle helmets for everyone in the household, and put them on before doing anything else, whether inside the rooms or while rushing down the stairs to get out of the house, and then keep the helmets on even when out in the open, lest flying stones and debris come your way.
I am posting a picture of myself in a helmet -- the first I have ever worn in my entire life. It makes me look like an astronaut, but at least its a good safety measure.
Please pass the word along and inform as many people as you can.

DEAREST FRIENDS!

DEAREST FRIENDS!
I AM SAFE, DUE TO YOUR LOVE, GOOD WISHES, PRAYERS AND KIND THOUGHTS! AND I AM DEEPLY TOUCHED AND MOVED BY YOUR WORDS OF CONCERN.
I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WRITE AND THANK EACH ONE OF YOU IN DETAIL, BECAUSE THE INTERNET BLINKS OUT WITH THE QUAKE TREMORS. BUT I DO SO WITH ALL MY HEART AND FEELINGS AND LOVE.
TO DATE THERE WERE FOUR EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS SINCE YESTERDAY IN THE TOWN OF MUSSOORIE WHERE I AM HERE IN THE HIMALAYAS.
(1) IN WHICH THE CHEMISTS BOTTLES FELL OFF HIS SHELVES
(2) IN WHICH THE COMPUTERS SHOOK AND SLID IN A COMPUTER SHOP
(3) IN WHICH THE TABLE SHOOK AND TREMBLED IN A DOCTOR'S CLINIC .
(4) IN WHICH THE TREMORS WERE FELT AT THE IAS ACADEMY HERE.
THESE TREMORS WERE FELT ALL OVER THE TOWN.
BUT STRANGELY ENOUGH, I DID NOT FEEL A THING!
THIS IS THE RESULT OF YOUR LOVE AND PRAYERS AND GOOD WISHES!!
AND MY FATHER'S SPIRIT WATCHING OVER ME.
YOU MIGHT WISH TO READ THIS SMALL ARTICLE ON MUSSOORIE IN THE HIMALAYAS WHERE I AM AT PRESENT

BUT LET US KEEP ON PRAYING FOR THE PEOPLE DEVASTATED IN NEPAL WHERE THE DEATH TOLL NOW IS OVER 2000 WITH 6000 IN A CRITICAL STATE BEING TREATED IN THE STREETS AND OPEN FIELDS BECAUSE THE HOSPITALS ARE THREATENED BY COLLAPSE.

HIMALAYAN TRAGEDY - TENTATIVE GOODBYE

I live up here in the Himalayas and know what it is like to be in the midst of an earthquake of even mild intensity. There is no place to run out to, because there are mountains all around which are coming down in avalanches on any space that you can find.
In the cities in the plains, if there is an earthquake people run out of their homes into the wide open roads and parks and save themselves from any buildings that are falling.
But not so in the mountains where not only are the buildings falling but there is no open space outside except the roads that run alongside the mountains- on which the mountains are collapsing.
The Himalayas are in the North of India, and happen to be in the midst of two gigantic "tectonic plates" underground, below the crust of the earth. And these two gigantic tectonic plates have been crashing into each other every few years, so that the Himalayas have been declared a danger zone for earthquakes.
An earthquake of intensity 4 or 5 on the richter scale is enough to make you dizzy and give you the feeling the room is spinning around. An earthquake of richter scale 6 is when you hit the danger point and houses are on the verge of collapse.
This time the earthquake that hit the Himalayas, situated in Nepal above India, had an intensity of richter scale 7.9!!! This came after 80 years.
This has practically reduced the whole of Nepal to rubble. As of today the dead have been counted as 1500, but as the rubble and rocks and bricks are being lifted, far greater figures of the death toll will be coming.
The Earthquake that hit Nepal this morning April 25, 2015 rocked the whole of North India and shook many cities. The people who died in the Indian cities were about 50 as of the counting right now.
"Seismic Experts" or Earthquake Experts garble a lot of scientific talk without anybody clearly explaining anything. Will this Earth recur? The after shocks have run into about 30 or so. But can a major earthquake hit any part of India or the Himalayas again? No one seems to know and people are not interested in their technical knowledge which the experts probably do not understand themselves.
Who can predict the course of Mother Nature, and its whims and fancies!
I remember when I had freshly returned from Harvard as a nuclear physicist, my father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992), a great spiritual luminary of his time, said to me in his usual kind and humble way:
"PRIYAJI! I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT SCIENCE HAS INVENTED ANY INSTRUMENT THAT CAN STOP AN EARTHQUAKE!""
I did not understand his words fully then, but now when I see how helpless mankind is with all its economic and technical progress to stop an earthquake, I understand.
I am still living here in the Himalayas in the midst of this imminent danger of another impending earthquake, fully confident that my Father is looking after me in Spirit Form as God and I am under His care and protection.
Yet, if it be the Divine Will that my part upon the planet earth is over, I welcome it because I know I will simply go to be with my Father forever.
The internet connection which is flimsy always, is bound to break off many times as these earthquake jerks continue, and I may not be in communication with you at times.
My Dear Friends, please let me tell you that I have appreciated your love and friendship, and shall always keep you in my heart wherever I may be.
IF I return to my pages on Facebook you will know I am OK, but if I dont, then I shall merely say goodbye in the words of the American Folk Singer which keep ringing in my ears for some reason these days:
"If you miss the train I'm on,
You will know that I am gone,
You can hear the whistle blow
A hundred miles....."
I give below a picture of myself sitting along with my Father in New Delhi a long time ago when he was in his physical frame and I know this is how we shall be in the after-life, if I am not here.
Please join me in offering prayers to the departed souls and those still to be reported as departed.

CONTENTMENT THE GREATEST WEALTH

With the society everywhere becoming more and more materialistic and more money minded, contentment has become somewhat of an "outdated" word!
As a spiritual counselor I have all kinds of people coming to me -- asking me to pray for them that they get a good house, a good job, a good car, a lot of wealth, success in business etc. etc., and all the material comforts of life.
When I tell them to try and be content with what they have and not lose their peace of mind in seeking what they do not have, they are bewildered, and though they may nod their heads in agreement their hearts do not want to be content.
Out of the scores of people who have come to me there was only one lady who brought her son and said to me:
"Please pray for him so that he grows up to be a good person!"
A group of students asked me: "If we are content with what we have then will it not halt our progress?"
And I said to them: "No, on the contrary it will speed up your progress. Because when you are content, your mind is at peace, and when you are at peace within, then you can do your work doubly well. For example you cannot carry out a complex computer problem if your mind is disturbed! You may even do something wrong that will lead you to get fired from your job! But with a calm and peaceful mind you can work much better and more efficiently --- and progress will follow you quite naturally!! So progress is a natural consequence of contentment!"
I also added: "Rather than look upon those who are better off than you and become discontent, it would be far better if you looked upon those who are in a worse position than you, and be content and thankful for what you possess!"
If you have a thousand rupees in your pocket and people think you have a million, that will not make you a millionaire. If people think you have nothing, that will not make you a pauper.
So rather than worry about "what people will think", it would be better if you remain content and happy in your situation with whatever you possess! After all it is your life and your happiness.

HOW TO DEAL WITH CRITICISM

Most of us have faced criticism, whether we are ordinary folk, or people in high positions, or whether we are artists and musicians.
No matter how much we try to console ourselves the fact is that criticism hurts, and pinches, and wants us to turn around and "punch" for "pinch"!
This is especially true of musicians and singers who have meticulously rehearsed their singing and the musical instruments -- and then find that some shady looking "critic" with slouching shoulders and a mean look on his face, jots down some ugly notes in his notebook-- and the next day you "Find out" from this total stranger how bad your music was! Or how badly you played the violin or sang. And all this in the daily newspapers where thousands read it, many of whom have not even attended the concert!
The chances are the the critic can neither sing, nor play any musical instrument nor the violin. He is just a critic because he cannot be anything else. And worse still, he appears to have a grudge against mankind and is suffering from some mental disorder, or "phobia".
But he does ruin your mood, your day, your month and maybe your whole life, he does put you in a depression and makes you feel that maybe you are not so good as to perform before the public at all.
And the worst aspect is that he cannot be shut out from your concert, he is everywhere, wearing the sultry look and beady eyes that defy mankind to discourage him from bad-mouthing anyone he likes.
After all he is the Critic and he can get away with anything, even ruining a man's career.
My Father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji, (1902-1992) a great spiritual luminary of his time who gave peace and beatitude to countless souls during his lifetime, had a recipe to keep critics under control. And he really meant every word that he said in his humility and spirituality. This is what he would say to shut the critics up forever:
"I THANK YOU FOR YOUR CRITICISM!"
"IF THE FAULTS YOU HAVE POINTED OUT ARE IN ME I SHALL TRY TO REMOVE THEM!"
"HOWEVER, IF THEY ARE NOT IN ME, THEN I THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT A PITFALL THAT I MUST AVOID!"
This will shut up the critic for good. Try it, and watch the critic walk shame-faced out of the hall, back to his little black hole in his apartment where he imagines up all the diabolical things he can say about his victims, the artists, musician, speakers..

HOW TO DEAL WITH REJECTION

There are times in your life when you feel rejected by all your family members and friends and acquaintances, your office boss and even strangers! You pick up fights with the taxi driver and the bus conductor and the fault is entirely theirs.
You sit alone and reflect upon this "rejection syndrome" - why everyone appears to be rejecting you and persecuting you, blaming you for everything that goes wrong especially when it is their fault.
You go into a depression and start blaming yourself. Something must be wrong with you-- why are so many people annoyed with you?
But there was a wise one, a certain Abdul Kareem, who was unfazed and unperturbed. He had found a golden solution, a great formula for this rejection syndrome. He would never blame himself. Rather he wrote this verse on his wall and would go out into the world armed with this philosophy, with which he lived even inside his home:
"ANDAR PAAGAL,
BAAHAR PAAGAL,
SAARI DUNIYAA BILKUL PAAGAL!
SAB MEN ABDUL KAREEM SIYAANAA!!
"MADMEN INSIDE,
MADMEN OUTSIDE,
THE ENTIRE WORLD IS FULL OF MADMEN!!
THE ONLY PERSON WHO IS SANE, IS ABDUL KAREEM!"
This is a formula I would recommend to anyone who feels threatened and persecuted and rejected at home and outside and by the world in general. It will give him tremendous comfort to know that everyone indeed has gone mad and that he is the only person left sane!!! It actually works! Try it and see! Within seconds your agitation and temper will cool down and your depression will disappear! The great but unknown philosopher, Abdul Kareem really had a point! LOL

CHILD PRODIGIES OR JUST LEARNERS?

Here is a picture of my brother and myself. My elder brother is holding the violin and I have my arm across his shoulder, watching him "play".
As I have already said we had the most indulgent father in the whole world, HH Shri Bhola Nathji, who, we were sure , would even get us the moon if we wished for it.
And so we wished for a violin. And here we are in this photo with the violin, dressed in snazzy suits, which were a rarity for children in those days, but which were made for us by our father.
The violin had the words "Stradivarius" written on a label inside, but it was an imitation of the real Stradivarius, even though it was made in Czechoslovakia.
Learning the violin was an agony we were unprepared for. The screeching and scraping sounds we made on it made the dogs in the house howl. Our parents bore it in silence.
They got us a long-haired music teacher who made even worse scraping and screeching sounds on the instrument while trying to teach us how to play it! He used to tell us that he was actually 80 years old but looked young because of the black hair dye he used.
It is said that the violin is such a tough instrument to play that you need several lifetimes to become a Yehudi Menuhin or Isaac Stern. Here you actually have to produce something called "music".
On a piano if you touch a key you get a musical sound, but on the violin if you pull the bow across the strings all you hear is a weird screeching cum scraping sound.
Our Music Teacher would teach us Classical Indian Ragas and made us note down the notes on a small music book in the house. Things went well until the dog sprayed it with his diarrhea one day and obliterated the Ragas for posterity.
Somehow we managed to "master" the instrument, which meant we ceased to scrape on it and were able to produce some music.
By that time our father got us a second violin so that we could play a duet.
I recall a concert the two of us gave at a school, and how we were applauded by the audience. The music teacher was behind the curtain beating out a rhythm on the tabla as background music.
Later he said proudly to the audience:
"I taught them how to play the violin!"
And several people amongst the audience got up to say to him:
"And now they play better than you!"
I cannot say whether that was a compliment to our playing or an unkind reference to his!! He had been known to have tomatoes cast at him in many concerts in the city where he played.
My advice to music lovers is : - if you want to start music please don't do so with a violin. It is said that it takes several life-times to master the instrument, and till then it is a torment on the learners as well as the listeners.
The violins still lie in my house, without strings or the bows, but the wooden structures are still intact which makes them look like violins, or Stradivariuses.

As I have said elsewhere, we had a very indulgent father and we were sure that if we asked him to go and get us the moon, he would do that!!
And so as tiny tots, my brother and I wanted A TRICYCLE.
And sure enough our father got us that.
I would sit at the back seat, sucking a rubber pacifier, while my brother would do the driving. I think that all the years we had the Tricycle it was always my elder brother who did the driving and I who enjoyed the joy rides. It was not that I was too lazy it was just that I did not have the strength to pull us both.
I am sure Tricycles are out of vogue now. but at that time all the toys that came to India were "Made In England!"
As of now the only places one sees Tricycles is in the Circus, driven by a Joker. But not on a high wire!
But during my time these were pretty serious toys!
Since the Tricycle still exists I am sure I will try to fit myself into it one day, and if I succeed, I will post a picture here

TRICYCLE BUILT FOR TWO
MY BROTHER AND I AS TINY TOTS
MY ELDER BROTHER IS DRIVING.

PANDEMONIUM AT THE LOST "PUPPAA" -PACIFIER

In the photographs below I have been shown riding a Tricycle which my elder brother is driving. We were both classified as "tiny tots".
But I was a "tinier totter" than my brother. And still had not given up the habit of chewing on the rubber pacifier which is given to babies. Maybe I enjoyed the smell of the British made rubber. I was about four years of age at the time, an age in which tiny tots grow out of pacifiers. But I would not part with mine.
As a matter of fact I even drank my milk through the pacifier attached to a milk bottle which is usually used to feed babes! Maybe because the smell of the rubber pacifier made the milk more palatable which I otherwise hated!
Then came a day when the pacifier known as the "puppaa" was lost! And there was pandemonium in the house as I refused to drink the milk and became aggressive and yelling at the top of my voice, scaring everyone in the house!!
My parents and the two servants searched all over the house for the "puppaa" but it was nowhere in sight. I would not stop hollering and refused to have any milk or food the whole day.
My father even went to the local chemist and brought a new "puppaa", but I threw it away. I wanted the old "puppaa" back or nothing!! There was no compromising on the lost "puppaa". Either the "puppaa" had to be back or I would remain on a hunger strike.
My father who could accomplish almost anything and had been accredited with the power of doing miracles, was at his wits end on how to resolve the situation. And so he was forced into performing a miracle!
At around dusk time when the sun was sinking in the west and people were still searching for the lost "puppaa" in the dim light -- it miraculously re-surfaced!!. It had fallen down the mountainside on which the house was situated! And was hanging on to a thread-bare bush, about to plunge into the ravine below.
It was brought back by one of the servants-- much to the relief of the inmates of the house. And the next instant I was seen drinking my milk bottle with satisfaction with the "puppaa" attached to it!
Lesson: So much for "puppaas"- pacifiers! Dont get attached to them or it can be disastrous when you outgrow babyhood! Disastrous for the parents!

WORLDLY ADVICE FROM A SPIRITUAL LUMINARY

My Father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) was a great spiritual luminary of his time who gave peace and beatitude to countless souls, relieving them of their ills and sorrows. He often gave worldly advice which was in fact another facet of spiritual life.
ABOUT QUARRELS
"IF THERE IS A WISE MAN ON EACH SIDE THEN THERE WILL NEVER BE A QUARREL BETWEEN THEM.
"EVEN IF THERE IS A WISE MAN ON ONE SIDE, THERE WILL NOT BE A QUARREL BETWEEN THEM.
"A QUARREL TAKES PLACE WHEN THERE IS NO WISE MAN ON EITHER SIDE!"
'AFTER EVERY WAR THERE MUST BE PEACE.
'SO WHY NOT BE CONTENT WITH THE PEACE YOU WERE IN BEFORE STARTING THE WAR?"
"THE FRIEND OF A FRIEND IS A FRIEND.
THE FRIEND OF A FOE IS A FOE.
"THE FOE OF A FOE IS A FRIEND"
'THE FULFILLMENT OF DESIRE BRINGS YOU TO A STATE WHERE THERE IS NO DESIRE.
"AND THAT WAS THE STATE YOU WERE IN BEFORE THE DESIRE AROSE IN THE FIRST PLACE, A STATE OF NO DESIRE."
"IF ONE DESIRE IS FULFILLED HOW HAPPY YOU ARE!
'IMAGINE YOUR STATE OF HAPPINESS IF ALL YOUR DESIRES WERE FULFILLED! AND YOU CAME TO A STATE OF NO DESIRES.
'IMAGINE YOUR STATE OF HAPPINESS IF THERE WERE NO DESIRES AT ALL TO START WITH!"
"DESIRE IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF SORROW.
"IF YOU DO NOT GET WHAT YOU DESIRE THERE IS SORROW.
"IF YOU GET WHAT YOU DO NOT DESIRE THERE IS SORROW.
"IF YOU DO NOT DESIRE ANYTHING AT ALL THERE IS NEITHER SORROW NOR JOY, THERE IS PEACE AND ONLY PEACE.
YOU HAVE RISEN ABOVE DESIRE!"

Holi Ghazal - Color of Love

FESTIVAL OF HOLI IN INDIA MARCH 6, 2015
Holi is a festival of colors celebrated all over India, in which people douse each other with colors, wet and dry. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and also a spirit of camaraderie and love in which people forget all differences and embrace each other with joy and love.
My Father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) wrote this Ghazal ( Urdu Verses in song) in March 1989.
It was sung by me at that time in 1989 and later again as of the date of this video.
The words of the poem go beyond that of any human poet's imagination . It is a poem which describes the Divine Poet, God, who has thrown every color conceivable under the Sun upon the earth and the Universe.
"My Cup has overflowed,
And the world is now full of color
It is Holi now, yes, it is Holi everywhere"
The Grand Artist watching the multifarious colors He has doused the Earth and the Skies with, from the smallest of its creatures, from vegetation and flowers to the mountains and oceans.. and most of all watching the Color of Love He has placed in the hearts of all the people of the world, which is another name for God, Himself.

FOUR THINGS A MAN SHOULD NEVER FORGET

By HH Shri Bhola Nathj i(1902-1992) a Great Spiritual Luminary of our times who have peace and beatitude to countless people during his lifetime, relieving them of their sorrows and sufferings.

"There are four important things in life which a man should never forget:

1. The first is God, the Creator of everything in existence, who is All Powerful and the Source of Eternal Happiness, and who is constantly with man and who can make his journey of life smooth and comfortable, give him peace and prosperity both.
By remembering him man will only gain strength in the difficult moments of life and find happiness and success in life.
Even an atheist has to call out to Someone when in great distress in life, and that Someone is God.
By keeping God with himself man does not stand to lose anything. Rather he gains a powerful friend who is with him even when no one else in the world is with him.

2. The second in importance is Death. Man must never forget Death and always remember that his life is progressing towards Death which is the end of Life. By remembering Death man will not be overly worried or concerned about material successes or failures, as both will vanish one day as if in a dream, when Death comes. Death is an awakening from the dreams of life. Death is the conversion of one beautiful form to another. It is the precursor to a new life in another plane. How you live here will determine how you live in the hereafter after Death.

3. Remember to forget the goodness you see in yourself. Because any goodness you see in yourself will give way to pride and make you feel superior to others, and this will eventually give way to discord and will not be pleasing to God either. God likes those who are humble.

4. Remember to forget the evil that you see in others. Because when you recall the evil that you see in others, the evil will become like a dreadful thorn in your heart which will prick you all the time. If you meditate upon a thorn you will become like a thorn yourself. If you meditate upon a flower you will become like a flower."

WHY I LOVE AMERICANS

If there is any other country in the world in which I would have considered settling down it would be the United States of America. And this is not just blind adoration. It is not for the dollars, business opportunities, or jobs, but it is for the inherent goodness that I found in the hearts of the American people.
America baiters or America haters would take issue with me and deny this, but they are welcome to their own opinion. I am giving mine based on my own experiences there. It was not that I did not meet bad Americans. I did. But the good people there overwhelmingly outnumbered the bad.
Maybe I was in a protective environment at Harvard University and met only special professors and students, academics. I found them all to be extremely good. But I am not referring to them when I speak of the good Americans.
When I was in my last year of my Ph.D in Physics, I received an ominous phone call that my mother was very ill and possibly on her deathbed. I had to rush to London where my parents were residing at the time.
At Harvard, where I was teaching as well, my senior told me that he would correct the examination papers on my behalf. At Harvard Project Physics, where I was working, they came forward and gave me whatever salary was my due till date.
My professor said to me: "Priya, I know how you must be feeling. I felt the same way when my mother was sick!"
I rushed from Boston to New York to catch the flight to London. There was just one last flight left on that day. I was dismayed when I saw the long line of people before me waiting to get tickets on the flight. I knew that before I could get to the ticket counter the flight would be full and there would be no tickets left.
I spoke to the person at the end of the line and told him my mother was very ill which was why I appeared so despondent. The man was a New Yorker, who I was told were generally rude people, but to my surprise he passed the word down the long queue. It appeared as if everyone was saying : "His mother is sick! His mother is sick!"
Much before I knew what was happening, the person who was the first at the counter had given up his place and offered it to me!!
Even as I purchased my ticket with profuse gratitude to the gentleman, he said to me: "I hope your mother gets well!!"
I arrived in London just in time to meet my mother before she closed her eyes forever.
Her last words to me were:"Oh, Priya! You have come! This happiness will remain with me forever.."
Now will people understand why I love the Americans so much?
