DANCE OF DEATH

DANCE OF DEATH

There was a philosopher cum holy man who claimed to understand the meaning of life and death. For him death was a release to regions of great bliss in the hereafter.

Whenever he went to the house of a friend or relative where someone had died he would dance and twirl around in spiritual
ecstasy rejoicing at the "release" of another soul.

Then one day, his own mother died.

He danced on that day, too, but his dance lacked its usual bounce.

How easy it is for us to philosophize when someone else dies, but how badly our philosophy fails us when someone in our own home is gone.
