LAUREL AND HARDY JUNIORS

January 18 · Edited
When my brother and I lived with our parents in the small city of Mussoorie, we were exposed to a lot of western culture-- western schools, western books, and most of all western movies and western comic books!! All of which were surprisingly available in this small city. Much of the influence was American despite the fact that the city had been originally built by the British, before they left in 1947.

We were fortunate in having a Father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) later the Founder of the World Prayer Day, who was not only the most loving person on earth for everyone, but also a very loving and doting father. We had but to ask for anything and we just knew that he would get it for us. We were convinced that if we asked him to get us the moon and the stars he could do it!!

And so he got us the things we desperately wanted -- western felt hats, of the type that Laurel and Hardy wore or that were worn by the western heroes like Hopalong Cassidy and Rocky Lane in the movies. Although he could not get children's size hats, but the hats fitted us quite well.

Here is a picture of the two of us sitting together - my brother with the flower and white felt hat, and I behind him with the black felt hat.

We still retain the hats, though they are too small for our heads now and have been chewed away by fat mountain rats who enjoy the taste of felt hats!!
