You find yourself rebuked; your faults laid
bare. Somebody calls you ignorant. You lose
control over yourself and give vent to wrath.
Do you not find in his criticism, a light, that
reveals the small and big of your own heart?
Look within yourself and try to see whether
what has been said about you is true or not.
If it is, then endeavour to remove the fault.
If it is not, then thank him who rebuked you,
for surely he has pointed towards an evil that
you must avoid.
If you see any goodness in yourself, then it
is all the more reason why you should not
throw caution to the winds.
This beautiful light is not free from the
angry gusts of wind that threaten to
extinguish it. Yes, it can be extinguished.
Therefore, it is for you to be the best judge
of yourself, and to keep in leash all your
thoughts so that they may not swerve from
the path of righteousness.
