GREETINGS FOR MAHASHIVARATRI

PARABLE OF HH SHRI BHOLA NATHJI
"HOW TO PLEASE GOD- HELP THE POOR!"
==================================================
From the Thoughts of my Father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992) A Great Spiritual Luminary of His time.

PARABLE
There was a very kind and generous person who took a vow to not to eat himself until he had fed a poor man first.
And, thereafter, every day he would go out in search of a hungry person and feed him, and then later he would come home and eat himself.
But there came a day when he could not find any poor person on the streets. He searched everywhere but could find no one who wished to be fed by him.
He came home disconsolate and then did not eat the whole day long.
The same thing happened the next day and the day after that.
He could not find any poor man who he could feed.
He had stopped eating all this time, and was resolved to eat only after he had fed someone.
His body had become so weak that he could hardly move. In fact he lay dying. But he refused to eat until he had fed a poor man.
Just as he was about to lose consciousness, there came a knock at his door. And the door opened by itself.
There stood a man dressed in rags with a begging bowl in his hand, and he said:
"I haven't eaten for days! Can you give me some food!"
The half conscious host got up and gave the visitor some food, and thanked him for coming to his house and for saving him from certain death from starvation.
The stranger thanked him - and then revealed himself in all His Glory:
"I AM GOD! I HAVE COME TO REVEAL MYSELF TO YOU BECAUSE I AM PLEASED WITH YOUR RESOLVE TO NOT TO EAT YOURSELF UNTIL YOU HAVE FED A POOR MAN. I HAD TO COME BEFORE YOU IN THE GUISE OF A POOR AND HUNGRY MAN!"
Remember, therefore, that when you go out to help others less fortunate than you, or others in misery, you are not helping them-- but rather helping yourself!
You are becoming dearer and closer to God, and maybe it is He Himself in the guise of a poor man who is taking this service from you -- to grant you Salvation in Life as well as in Death, to free you of all worries of this world and the next.
THE GREATEST WORSHIP OF GOD LIES IN HELPING THE POOR, OR THOSE IN NEED, OR THOSE LESS FORTUNATE THAN YOU.
THE PURPOSE OF YOUR LIFE IS NOT SIMPLY TO ENJOY YOURSELF WITH RICHES AND MATERIAL PLEASURES, THE PURPOSE OF YOUR LIFE IS TO HELP MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN FOR OTHERS..
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH MISERY IN THE WORLD?
SO THAT YOU CAN HELP REMOVE IT.
WHY DID GOD CREATE SUCH AN IMPERFECT WORLD?
SO THAT YOU COULD MAKE IT MORE PERFECT.
