WHITHER GOEST THOU?

WHITHER GOEST THOU?
====================================================
From the Thoughts of my father, HH Shri Bhola Nathji (1902-1992)
A Great Spiritual Luminary of His time.
====================================================
A man steeped in the gains and losses of the world was proceeding along his path when suddenly a voice rang out in his ears.
"Whither goest Thou?
"Art thou still lost in the thoughts of gaining and losing the world?"
"Nidaaye raihbare kaamil, mere kaanon men yoon pahunchi,
Abhi saudaaye jahaan ke hee soodo ziyaan tak hai?"
"The Voice of the Perfect Master rang out in my ears,
Art thou still lost in the gains and losses of this world"
The gains and losses of this world take up the entire portion of a man's life and he has no time to think of the gains and losses of the world to come.
It is akin to a man who is lost in a dream world and who is affected by everything in the dream, he covets things and he loses things, and his dream is spent out in these bargains.
When in a dream a person thinks of everything there as real. If a tiger comes, he runs, if something attractive comes his way he runs after it. He becomes accustomed to thinking of the dream world as the one and only world. He never things of himself as lying on his bed sleeping, dreaming.
Then one day he awakens from his sleep and finds that the dream world was in fact nothing but a figment of his imagination. It was in fact nothing at all.
"The Crown and the Begging Bowl of thy dream are one,
Let not your heart be deluded by the one or the other!"
Actually the person is awakened from his dream, more often by a nightmare.
The sorrows of the world are the nightmare that bring about an awakening in you and bring you to the real world.
And once you are in the real world you wonder how you could even have been attracted by such illusory figures which you saw in the dream world.
AND, FINALLY, DEATH IS AN AWAKENING FROM THE DREAMS OF LIFE WHICH OPENS YOUR EYES IN THE REAL WORLD.
