The picture below of HH Shri Bhola Nathji writing with a pen was hung on the wall of his verandah at Mussoorie in 1955.

Two devotees came to see him, to take his darshan and blessings.

He was not in the verandah where the picture was hung on a wall.

One devotee said to the other: "I wonder what he is writing?"

The other devotee replied : "It must be our destiny!"

The first one said jokingly: "And what if he has written something that goes against us? We will have to bear it all our lives!"

HH Shri Nathji, who was in the room adjacent to the verandah and had heard their conversation, came out and said:

"If you do not like what I have written I shall erase it and write something suitable for you!"

Shri Nathji continued:

"How true is this universal truth. Every man in the world has the liberty to erase what he has written and then write something else!

"Then why should God not have the liberty to erase something He has written and write afresh?"

" If God finds that the destiny He has written may be too harsh on you He can easily erase it and write something more suitable for you! "

"So man must never despair, and never think that his destiny is unchangeable. He must have faith in God that God can erase his destiny and write it afresh!"

"Prayer is the only answer for man under such circumstances. To pray and pray to God until He takes Mercy on him and changes his destiny!"
