Day has dawned once again. All would wish to bathe and dress and then look at their faces in a mirror. They would wish, too, to see the best possible reflection, adorned by the best possible face.
And when the mirror is put aside they see not their faces. But they are satisfied that their friends and relatives shall see their faces, well-groomed and washed. And they stroll in the streets of the world, wishing to be looked at and appreciated – but who has the time to stand, look, and appreciate?
Who cares to say whether the face is ugly or handsome? But nobody bothers to look! A glance is all, and then nothing.
How much better would it be if we get up early in the morning and cleanse our hearts of all evil thoughts and then observe the best possible reflection of the best possible heart in the mirror of the soul.
Ah! And then we can stroll in the gardens of this Universe, satisfied that God shall see our hearts pure and true and free.
He has the time to look, for indeed. He looks at nothing else but us.
A child cares only for its toys and for itself, but the child’s mother cares only for the child and its beauty, so that they may remain untarnished.
